Saskatchewan's Top Navy League Cadet for the 2025 - 2026

CP01 Oberg, of #18 H.M. Weir, in Saskatoon, SK was selected to receive Saskatchewan Division's top Navy League Cadet of the Year this year as well as the Orson Burgess Award and the top National Cadet of the Year.

Saskatchewan's Top Sea Cadet for the 2025 - 2026

CPO1 Plant of #43 RCSCC Impregnsnle in Regina, Sk. was selected to receive Saskatchewan Division's top Sea Cadet of the Year, the Medal of Excellence as well as the Admiral Yano Award.

PO2 Waffle of #43 RCSCC Impregnsnle in Regina, Sk. was also selected to receive the Medal of Excellence.

P01 McGowan of #99 RCSCC Assiniboine in Moose Jaw, Sk. was also selected to receive the Medal of Excellence.

  • Navy League Cadet National Awards Checklist

    The Navy League Cadet of the Year and the Orson Burgess Award


    The following checklist is to be used by Commanding Officers to ensure all the required documentation has been included in each award package submitted to Division. Missing documents may disqualify your candidates for the award being nominated for.


    1. Navy League Award Application Form, NL (104) E (Mandatory)

    2. Navy League Cadet Training Record (Mandatory)

    3. Navy League Cadet Activity Record (Mandatory)

    4. Photographs of the Nominee in Full Uniform - One head and shoulder and one full body, boots must be in view (Mandatory) 

    5. School marks

    6. Letters of Recommendation from

            - Commanding Officer (Mandatory)

            - Branch President (Mandatory)

            - School Principal

    7. One or more from

            - Teacher

            - Minister

            - Coach

    8. Any additional recommendation letters to substantiate involvement in the community and citizenship would be beneficial for the Orson Burgess Award.

    9. Cadet generated autobiography. Can be computer generated, but must be signed by the cadet and include the following

            - Brief information about the cadet

            - Plans after leavung Navy League

            - School Activities

            - Cadet Activities

            - Organized Sports

            - Activities outside of Cadets and School

            - Benefits from being a Navy League Cadet

    10. Commanding Officer's letter must include

            Attendance Record

            Exam Results

            Promotions and Dates

            Awards Received

            Cadet's participation within the Corps and the Community

            General Comments about the Cadet

    11. Original documents with one photocopy must be submitted to your branch who will review and forward to the Divisional Awards Chair. Division will forward to the National Office. 


    The more information or letters of recommendation you provide, the better chance of your nominee being selected. A video can be included. Branch Presidents and Commanding Officers are responsible for proper completion of the award packages prior to submission. 


    All award packages must be received by the Division Awards Chair no later than 10 February. Late submission will not be accepted.
